We do our best to ensure that families and students stay up to date on events and schedules for all our programs. This handbook is one of these communication tools and familiarization of its contents is the responsibility of every student. We do our best to ensure that all students receive a refreshing orientation at the beginning of the school year and students who join our program throughout the year also receive an orientation and a copy for their reference. Other ways we communicate with families and students throughout the year include:

• Digital Bulletin boards throughout the school

• Digital Events calendar on our website 

• Printed Events calendar. At the end of each month an Events Calendar is sent home for the upcoming month - parents are encouraged to review it for events that are relevant for students in their household - please be advised that any changes are reflected in our online events calendar.

• Classroom Newsletters - distributed periodically throughout the year

• Facebook Page - we use this for important announcements and to keep our families up to date on interesting happenings throughout the year. https://www.facebook.com/bigstone.okk/ 

• We keep important information and updates on our school website (the page you are reading now) Please note that Bigstone Cree Nation Education Authority also maintains a website located at www.bigstoneeducation.ca 

• Busing information is located at https://www.bigstoneeducation.ca/bus-status 

• Each quarter a "report card" is sent home - this is how we communicate academic progress. Important announcements about program updates are often part of this package!

In the event of an EMERGENCY situation that affects our school operations we will:

• Post information to this WEBSITE and FACEBOOK pages

• If the situation permits we will do our best to distribute hard copy information
